In a recent online exchange, popular Ghanaian YouTuber Kwadwo Sheldon took young millionaire Kojo Forex to task over comments he made about wealth accumulation in Ghana. In a post shared on social media, Kojo Forex claimed that any Ghanaian over 30 should have at least 100,000 Cedis in savings, sparking widespread debate.
Many Ghanaians found Kojo's statement unrealistic, given the economic challenges facing the average worker. Among the critics was Kwadwo Sheldon, who, during an episode of his show on Kwadwo Sheldon Studios, discussed why he found the post to be out of touch.
Sheldon argued that Kojo Forex’s statement overlooks the economic realities for most Ghanaians, particularly government workers who often struggle to make ends meet. He highlighted the challenges that professions like nursing and teaching face in Ghana, sharing that his own girlfriend, who worked as a nurse for over 30 years, earned a modest salary despite her hard work. Similarly, Sheldon pointed out how many teachers put in tireless efforts but are often compensated with minimal pay.
This ongoing conversation raises questions about the expectations around wealth and income levels in Ghana, and whether such benchmarks are fair or even achievable for the average person.
