In a revealing interview, a cocoa farmer voiced his frustration and his decision to vote against Dr. Bawumia and the NPP party, citing unfair practices towards cocoa farmers as the driving force behind his choice.
The farmer, expressing his disappointment, referred to the NPP and its leadership as "cheats," stating that the government's handling of cocoa prices has left him and many other farmers in dire financial straits. He explained that while the government sells a bag of cocoa at a high price, only a fraction of that amount actually reaches the farmers, leaving them with minimal compensation for their hard work.
Highlighting the struggles cocoa farmers face, he noted that the amount they receive is insufficient to cover basic needs like fertilizers, making it nearly impossible for them to sustain their farms. Due to these ongoing challenges, he revealed that he and many other farmers are prepared to vote en masse against Dr. Bawumia and the NPP in the upcoming elections.
For Ghana’s agricultural community, this decision underscores a growing discontent and the urgent need for more supportive policies to ensure the welfare of the nation’s hardworking cocoa farmers.
