Ghanaian social critic Twene Jonas has once again sparked conversation with a pointed critique, this time taking aim at award-winning rapper Sarkodie. In his latest episode, Jonas did not hold back, accusing Sarkodie of hypocrisy and questioning his silence on the current economic hardships facing Ghanaians.
Jonas reminded his audience that Sarkodie had once been outspoken about the challenges under the previous NDC administration, actively engaging in political commentary that helped sway public opinion towards the ruling NPP. In fact, Jonas highlighted that during President Akufo-Addo’s first term, Sarkodie even released a song showing his endorsement.
Now, as the economic situation grows more difficult, Jonas is questioning Sarkodie’s apparent lack of response. According to Jonas, Sarkodie was quick to critique former President Mahama but has remained notably silent in the face of rising hardships under the current administration.
Expressing deep disappointment, Jonas pointedly asked why the rapper has “lost his voice,” suggesting that Sarkodie’s silence is a betrayal of the people he once spoke up for. This bold commentary has reignited public debate over the role of celebrities and influencers in holding leaders accountable, regardless of political affiliations.
