Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo-Addo, has issued a strong statement directed at former President and NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, amid the heated political atmosphere leading to the next election.
Speaking during the commissioning of the Atafoa Bridge in Kumasi, President Akufo-Addo revealed that he received information suggesting Mahama wants him to “step aside” to allow for a direct contest with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presumptive candidate.
In a fiery response, Akufo-Addo made it clear that he would not stand by idly while Mahama challenges Bawumia. According to him, as a committed Ghanaian, he sees the upcoming election as too critical to remain uninvolved. He emphasized his full commitment to supporting his party and its candidate in the bid to secure victory.
This declaration adds another layer of intensity to the brewing political rivalry between the NPP and NDC as the country gears up for its next elections. What lies ahead promises to be a fierce battle of leadership and vision for Ghana's future.
