Ghana’s entertainment industry has always been full of unexpected twists, but a recent revelation by Kwabena Boakye, known on-screen as Copson and popularly referred to as actress Vivian Jill's grandson, has added a new layer of intrigue. Speaking on Hello FM with host Dave Hammer, Copson shared a surprising account of his turbulent history with celebrated Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin.
According to Copson, despite Lilwin’s unmatched influence in the Ghanaian film scene, they haven’t shared a set in years. The reason, as Copson revealed, is tied to a painful incident from the past that left their professional relationship strained.
Years ago, Copson’s team enlisted Lilwin for a film project, paying him upfront with the expectation that his appearance would be a major draw for audiences. But just days before the film’s premiere, Lilwin demanded a higher fee, warning that he wouldn’t attend the event unless they complied. With finances stretched thin, Copson’s team couldn't meet his demand, resulting in an unfortunate standoff.
To salvage their promotional efforts, Copson requested a brief endorsement video from Lilwin, hoping his support would still attract fans to the premiere. But Lilwin refused, insisting he couldn't endorse an event he wasn’t committed to attending. What stung even more was that, soon after, Lilwin publicly endorsed another film he hadn’t even acted in, an action Copson found hypocritical and disrespectful.
In the heat of frustration, Copson confronted Lilwin, accusing him of selfishness and hypocrisy. This exchange only deepened the rift, creating a long-standing feud between the two actors. However, after years of tension, Copson revealed that he and Lilwin have finally buried the hatchet. While the experience may have soured their working relationship, Copson says they’ve put the past behind them and are now at peace.
