Ghanaian gospel musician turned cocoa farmer, Joyce Blessing, has expressed her thoughts on the recent increase in cocoa producer prices. The Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC) announced a 129% upward adjustment, setting the new price of a 64-kg bag of cocoa at GH¢3,000. While acknowledging the effort, Joyce Blessing believes the price could be better.
As a cocoa farmer herself, Joyce Blessing emphasized the importance of appreciating farmers for their hard work. She argued that cocoa is a vital commodity for Ghana, and farmers deserve more recognition. "We want them to give us more. The GH¢3,000 is not bad, but it is my wish that they will add more to it," she said on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM.
Joyce Blessing also shared her personal connection to cocoa farming, revealing that it's a family heritage passed down through generations. She expressed pride in being a cocoa farmer and plans to leave the legacy for her children.
