Afia Pokuaa, a renowned Ghanaian media personality, has finally spoken out after Manhyia Palace rejected her apology, despite her hours-long plea for forgiveness. Yesterday, Afia Pokuaa, accompanied by Mona Gucci, Kumchacha, and other Media General executives, visited the palace to apologize for her recent comments. However, Otumfuo's representative remained resolute in his decision to turn her away, forbidding her from ever returning to the palace.
During the emotional encounter, an elder appealed on her behalf, highlighting Afia Pokuaa's heartfelt apology and hours spent on her knees. Nonetheless, the representative stressed that apologies aren't always enough, and some offenses require consequences . He sternly remarked, "Who do you think you are to disrespect the Otumfuo? If you think you've grown wings, don't aim them at Kumasi. You claim to be from Kwahu, yet even they separated from the Ashanti Kingdom. They speak our language."
In response, Afia Pokuaa took to Facebook, expressing gratitude to God for His guidance and seeking comfort in her faith during these trying times. Her post suggests she has no intention of seeking another plea at Manhyia Palace.
This development follows Afia Pokuaa's criticism of Asantehene's perceived silence on inter-tribal conflicts and Ashanti superiority, sparking intense debate on free speech, cultural sensitivity, and accountability.
