Ghanaian media personalities Mona Gucci and Afia Pokuaa have offered a heartfelt apology to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for their recent derogatory comments. The apology comes after widespread criticism and public outcry over Afia Pokuaa's remarks on Mona Gucci's OnuaTV show, "Bribigye gye wo."
During the show, Afia Pokuaa criticized Otumfuo's perceived silence on conflicts involving his subjects and other tribes. Mona Gucci, the host, failed to intervene, sparking outrage and accusations of disrespect.
In a rare display of accountability, both women took to social media and the same TV platform to render an unqualified apology to the Asantehene and the Asanteman.
Mona Gucci expressed regret for enabling Afia Pokuaa's hurtful comments. "I, Monalisa Abigail Sefakor Semeha, plead for your forgiveness and apologize to the Asantehene and the Ashantis... We acknowledge your pain and concerns regarding this issue. I apologize for everything that transpired."
Their apology marks a significant step in restoring respect and harmony between the media personalities and the Asantehene.
