Christian Methodist Senior High School, also known as Chrimeto, recently witnessed a disturbing incident where students turned against their teachers in a shocking display of violence. The confrontation erupted during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) when students, infuriated by their teachers' strict enforcement of examination regulations, began hurling stones at them.
According to Adanunyo, a teacher at the school, the students' aggression was unprovoked and driven solely by their anger over the educators' refusal to compromise examination integrity. In an interview with TV3, Adanunyo recounted the terrifying experience, revealing that he and the Head of Department were warned by a student about a mob threatening to attack them at the school gate if they continued with strict supervision.
The situation escalated when police were absent, and students started throwing pure water and stones at the teachers. Adanunyo noted that despite his suggestion to leave, some students took alternative routes and confronted them halfway, accusing him of being too strict and not allowing cheating.
Unfortunately, this incident is not the first time Chrimeto has experienced violence. In March 2024, students of the school were involved in a brawl with students of Ngleshie Amanfro Senior High School, resulting in the death of two students . This disturbing trend raises concerns about the safety and well-being of teachers and students in Ghanaian schools.
