Koku Anyidoho, former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has publicly condemned former President John Dramani Mahama for his recent comment about the people of Nzema in the Western Region . During a campaign tour, Mahama made a remark about the backside of the Nzema people, which Anyidoho deemed disrespectful.
The controversy began when Mahama met a man dressed as a woman with padded buttocks during an interaction session in Jomoro. Mahama jokingly said, "So, that means when it comes to buttocks, it's about Nzema people. You see, he has put things on his buttocks; he wants to be like his MP," referencing the curvaceous figure of Dorcas Affo-Toffey, MP for Jomoro Constituency .
Anyidoho took to social media to express his disappointment, stating, "In as much as I am concerned about the current economic climate, I am more concerned about how John Mahama is consciously destroying my NDC. How can a former President speak this way? Damn!" . He further declared, "I've finally given up on John Mahama as the Leader of my NDC. What is this? I am very disappointed and sad."
Anyidoho's outburst highlights the growing tension within the NDC, with some members questioning Mahama's leadership and suitability for future elections. As the debate rages on, one thing is clear: Mahama's comment has sparked outrage and left many wondering about his sensitivity towards cultural and regional sensitivities.
