Cheddar, the presidential candidate for the New Force party, has sparked controversy after meeting with Dormaahene, a prominent chief in Ghana. During the meeting, Cheddar expressed his desire to unite Otumfour Osei Tutu and the Asantehene, two influential figures in the Ashanti region. However, his method of expressing this desire has drawn criticism from some Ashantis.
In a video circulating on social media, Cheddar is heard saying that if he fails to unite the two leaders, his head should be used as a sacrifice, similar to Okomfo Anokye, a revered figure in Ashanti history . This statement has been met with outrage from some Ashantis, who view it as a threat and a sign of disrespect.
One social media user, Mandela, posted that Cheddar will not be given the opportunity to meet Otumfour again, except on television. Mandela also stated that Cheddar's meeting with Dormaahene was a mistake and that the Ashantis will vote against him.
It's worth noting that the Ashanti Empire has a rich history and cultural significance in Ghana, and any perceived disrespect towards its leaders or traditions can be sensitive . Cheddar's comments may have unintentionally alienated some potential voters in the region.
The response from Dormaahene has not been made public, but the backlash from some Ashantis is clear. Cheddar's campaign team may need to address this issue to prevent further damage to his reputation.
